May I direct your attention for a few seconds (a long time, if you think of the attention span people have nowadays) towards a little project I did with IceValk Entertainment? A project that is very special in every way possible. A project called G.R.U.N.T.S
You see, what makes G.R.U.N.T.S. (it’s pronounced “Grunts”, so i will call it Grunts from here on) so special is the very delivery the game has.
Think of a mysterious story. A story where you have no clue what is going on. Throw this story into a first person adventure type of game. Then add a ton of strange blatant obvious humor to it. Spice it up with nice music and comicbook like antics. And then make the entire game monochrome to the point where even grey is displayed in black and white dots. That is Grunts.
“But Zeke” I hear you say, “isn’t that just silly?” You are right. It is. And that is the whole point of the game. It is even so silly, it is self aware. The chitchat between the characters ingame usually involves talking about the simple 90ies nature of the game. Breaking the fourth wall is as normal in Grunts as are videogame cliches, or better, making fun of videogame cliches. Our hero is neither fond of key fetch quests nor of boss rush modes. And he doesn’t keep his thoughts to himself.
But thats not all. The graphics lend themselfs perfectly to some fun. You could do an inverted level for example. Like here:
The possibilities are endless. And that is the whole point. While you are reading this, we are prepearing the game for release in hopefully late February or early March as direct download.
Give this thing a chance. After all, its something new and creative. And that is something I know at least half of you guys want 🙂
