Kirby’s Epic Yarn REVIEW

Yarn is a long continuous length of interlocked fibres, suitable for use in the production of textiles, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, embroidery and ropemaking. It can also mean Tale or Story. So Kirby’s Epic Yarn is a Tale or Story that features Kirby and alot of long continuous lenght of iterlocked fibres. And a very very good one at that.

From the very first moment I’ve played this game i was hooked by it’s adorableness. I mean, we are talking me here, a 1.76 meter tall 100 kilograms heavy metalhead with a beard, black cloths and the habit of being one lound and noisy arrogant prick with the sensibility of a speedtrain and the emotions of a choleric chicken. But from the very first moment, the very first screen I was smiling and laughing happily at the sheer joy that is this game.

The tale about Kirby who lands inside a sock is wonderfully narrated by some dude with a childrens book voice. Once You entered the sock, you meet prince Fluff and the journey begins. The game is so well done and adorable, even the loading screens are cute and sexy. Speaking of sexy, the visual style in this game is brilliant. Everything is made of cloth and yarn, with little patches to unzip and little zippers to patch. Adorable.

The game itself plays pretty much as one might expect. Kirby can’t inhale enemies anymore, since he is hollow, obviously. So he cracks a piece of yarn whip at them, twirls them around or unties them. He can bounce around buttons, transform into a car, a submarine and even a tank at certain points in the game and generally has the best time of his life. Or yours. Everything in this game shines, from presentation to gameplay to music – everything is amazingly well done.

The only downside is that it is, as predicted, pretty easy and rather short. HOWEVER this should not pose a concern to anyone as it is a good short ride, and those are better than bad long ones. And while you literally cannot die in this game, it still features some challenge for completionists.

All in all, I can only reccomend this game to everyone and their mom. You should check it out for yourself. Ignore your narrow minded wannabe coolness and get this game!
